This project included an Off-Road Conversion and total restoration of all major components...
Restoration from beginning to end:
From beginning...
The process begins by disassembling the body. All body attachments and hardware inside and out are removed
from the body - including doors, hood, fenders, seals, hinges, carpeting, seats, bumpers, dash, etc.
The interior receives new headliner, new gear shift boots, new seals around doors and new window channels.
Many other interior details are performed, from new foot pedal pads to new stereo / antenna / speakers.
Dash pull knobs are all lubricated and refinished.
Undercoating - Wheels and tires are removed, Frame, axles, leaf springs, and tub are high pressure
steam cleaned, wire brushed & prepped. Undercoating is then applied to wheel well areas & under body tub,
and black enamel finished for a better than original look.
To middle...
Transmission and Transfer Case - Checked for proper function, cracks or damage, abnormal noise or vibration,
improper shifting or functioning in all gears, and totally rebuilt.
Differentials & Driveshafts - Check fluid levels, leakage (excluding normal seepage), cracked or damaged
housing (which is visible), abnormal noise or vibration. Lubricate all u-joints and inspect driveshafts
for play or misuse. Engine - checked for compression, oil leakage (excluding normal seepage), cracked block
or head, and abnormal exhaust discharge. All major components are thoroughly checked and mechanical repairs made.
Cooling System - Radiator removed, rodded. All other cooling components inspected and replaced on as needed basis,
e.g. water pump, thermostat, belts, hoses, etc....
Electrical System - Checked for improperly functioning charging system, alternator, plug wires, battery and
starter totally rebuilt.
Fuel System - Checked for leakage and rust. Inspect fuel valve, check for cracked or old fuel lines. New fuel
tank filler hose installed.
To end...
Accessories - All checked for proper function - gauges, A.C., heater, defroster, lights, signals, wipers,
radio(new antenna/speakers), etc.
Brake System - Checked for proper function (including e-brake) - new drums, shoes, pads, wheel cylinders,
brake lines and master cylinder, power booster, fluid levels checked and adjustments made. Road tested for
straight line stop.
Steering System - Checked for too much free play in steering, column play, steering gear binds or jams,
front wheel alignment, steering stabilizer shock replaced, rebuilt steering gear box and new power steering pump.
Suspension System - Checked for ball joint damage, track bar bushings inspected, drag link, "C" and radius arm
(axle bushings) inspected and replaced with factory bushings. Structural parts bent or damaged, stabilizer bar
function, shock absorbers and leafspring bushings inspected.
Exhaust System - dual mufflers and tail pipes, intake and exhaust gaskets replaced.
